World Bank Group Islamabad celebrated International Women’s Day in March at their stunning campus. Organized by FACE-Foundation of Arts, Culture & Education and covered by Berserk Media Production, the event commemorated the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women across Pakistan.
WE’19 was attended by remarkable, trailblazing women of all ages, from myriad industries and walks of life. The ceremony was an amalgamation of entrepreneurs, artisans, filmmakers, businesswomen, social activists, comedians and athletes, collectively celebrating the feminine spirit and what it means to be a woman in Pakistan.
The festivities commenced with stalls displaying brilliant work by tech entrepreneurs & artisans.
A Female Empowerment Art Exhibition where artists like Sara Shakeel, Shehzil Malik and many more took to the canvas to express their womanhood.
Industrial Design students from NUST-Team AUG beaming with pride, next to their masterpiece- a Formula 1 Car designed and modeled from scratch.
A friendly game of Pithu Garam to get that circulation flowing.
Oscar-winning journalist and filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, addresses the challenges of being a filmmaker and discusses #Aagahi, a campaign that is educating Pakistani women about their rights across a range of everyday topics.

It was a bedazzling and empowering experience to have such an eclectic group of females congregated in one space, lifting, inspiring and celebrating each other. WE’19 proved that there is nothing that women of Pakistan can’t achieve; they are a force of nature, elevating the nation to greater heights.
Here’s to women everywhere, who are breaking barriers, evolving spaces, redefining norms, combating stigmas and fighting for the rights of marginalized communities.
